GPS System Maps

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NAVTEQ. All opinions are 100% mine.

How many times have you went on vacation or a short trip where you did not know the area very well and had to get out and ask questions? What is even more frustrating is to ask directions from someone who is from the area but doesn’t have a clue of the area you are looking for. You know that would all change with GPS system maps in your ride, so why not buy one for yourself or a loved one and save the heartache of wasted vacation time looking for directions. www.mapupdatemonth.com

Last summer, my wife and I went to Victoria, British Columbia by way of Seattle, Washington and the Washington State Ferry system. I brought along paper maps but I had a very old and outdated GPS system. The system could not pick up any streets in Victoria and my paper map was no help because I had no idea of the orientation of where I was once we left the ferry dock in Sydney, British Columbia. We spent over an hour on the phone with the time share receptionist trying to navigate our way through Victoria to the time share. It was on a street that was only 500 feet long between three main streets.

One of the more frustrating travel times with my old outdated GPS systems was a trip from Indianapolis, Indiana to Chicago O’Hare airport. The system would not pick up anything outside state lines until we reached the state line.
