The History of the Vought F4U Corsair

The Vought F4U Corsair is rich in military aviation history. It was a fighter that primarily was used towards the end of WWII and in the Korean War. It was a capable of being launched from a carrier and was loaded to the teeth with 20mm cannons and later anti aircraft bombs. With all these heavy armament, it was still one of the fastest fighter aircraft of its time. Many Japanese pilots considered the Corsair the most dominant American fighter aircraft of World War II. It was such a sought after aircraft that Vought could not keep up with production.
